Easter

We’ve had a great Easter weekend. Saturday was finally such a nice day out that we decided to do the egg hunt then instead of the traditional Sunday. Kade and Anika had lots of fun searching for eggs at Nana and Papa’s. Anika wasn’t too sure at first, she didn’t want to get dirty so she was getting the eggs very carefully, not touching any grass or dirt. But as she got a few eggs she got more excited about it and just loved having eggs in her basket. Kade of course was all over the treats he was getting this year, but he still likes to look for the eggs and is already begging me to do another egg hunt around our house, just for fun. Kason had a great time as well and I think he just loved being outside, watching what was going on. He got one egg also and enjoyed the teddy grahams right away.

Kade and Anika loved getting all dressed up for church this morning. Ehren was running sound for 2 services today and one on Thursday night so he’s been busy with that. It is sad that our church gets maybe twice as many people as usual, if not more, on Easter. If some people understood the real reason for Easter they would be there every week. Mark and Audrey came over for lunch along with great aunt Judith. It was a nice relaxing afternoon and we got really full from all that great food. Audrey did most of the cooking (thank you so much) but we had it at our house which worked great with the kids’ naps. I made my first bunny cake for dessert and it turned out really good. Now we’re just stuck with a lot of cake and a lot of candy so I’ll have to send some with Ehren to work. Overall, it was a great Easter weekend with the family.

Waiting for Spring to come

I haven’t been posting much because I have not been in the mood  with our depressing cold weather in March.  Now we are starting to hope Spring is coming to stay, but there is still some snow on the ground.  Our drive way is pretty muddy in one spot so we cannot drive our cars into the garage for a while.  It stinks when I have to go somewhere with all 3 kids and carry 2 of them into the van or getting the groceries into the house through the mud.   We could not do it without good rubber boots.  But that’s how the new drive ways are – unpaved driveways. :)

I have been keeping busy with the kids.  Kason started walking 2 weeks ago and is getting better at it every day.  He loves to be around Kade and Anika and if they’re gone he mostly just comes to be with me.  It is so hard to believe that he’ll turn 1 in a month – it seems like I just had him.  Time really flies when you have kids.  Normally I can’t wait to get done with the baby stage, but this time it is a little sad too because it’s probably our last baby.  Never say never or else something will happen. :)

Kade is growing up fast too and he’s getting a little bit of an attitude, like he knows it all because he’s in kindergarten.  It will be so different next fall when he’s gone all day in school.  He loves math already and tries to figure out the simple addition, subtraction.  I guess he’s doing really good with writing sentences as the teacher dictates to them also, so I’m glad for that.  Somehow I think they make them do too much too soon, I didn’t even know how to write when I went to first grade.  Kade’s also picking up reading really fast and I’m not the one pushing him.  Still, I guess some children in Kade’s class have never been read to and don’t even know the right way to turn the pages of a book when they first come to kindergarten so that is sad to hear.  Kade is still all about friends and he is so bored if a week goes by and none of his friends come to our house or he goes there.  Right now he can’t wait for the soccer to begin and I’m excited to see how much better he’ll get this year.  I just hope the fields will be dry in a month because they’re not looking so good right now.

Anika is talking more and more every day and is finally saying more sentences instead of one-word sayings.  We go to her physical therapy sessions once a week but we might start 2 times a week soon.  She is doing improvements there too but to me it does not seem like it is that necessary because we do the same things at home that she does there.  She plays with balls, climbs stairs, and me and the therapist try to make her jump from a step or on the trampoline, but not with much luck so far.  She just hates to jump and if for some reason she wants to jump she only skips, not lifting both of her feet up at once.  I am not sure why that is, I thought all the kids loved jumping but not her.  She still loves to take care of babies and everyone, she loves to snuggle with us, and then of course do everything that Kade is doing.  She also loves doing her little puzzles.  One is an alphabet puzzle and she knows most of the letters already and says them together with the word that’s on the puzzle.  She’ll be walking around saying “W – whale” for example, that’s her favorite and it makes me giggle.  She also loves reading books and I think she would do that over just about anything, except maybe being outside.  So we have been reading a lot and Kason is starting to pay attention now too.

I just got a haircut yesterday to feel a little more springy and also to make it easier to get ready, so that’s the pictures of me.  Now we’re getting ready for Easter this weekend and I’m really looking forward to the egg hunt because Anika will be all over it along with Kade this year.
